Who remembers this song?
“Where my girls at, from the front to back, and if you feelin’ that, put one hand up, can you repeat that, tryna take my man, say I need that, so don’t play yourself.” – 702: Where My Girls At?
As soon as I saw the trailer for the new Will Packer Productions film, Girls Trip, my mind went straight to that 1999 hit from the girl group, 702.
Let’s chat a little about this upcoming movie, shall we?
Girls Trip is executive produced by Will Packer Productions (Think Like a Man, Almost Christmas, Ride Along, etc.) and produced and directed by Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man franchise, Barbershop, etc.)
The movie stars some of Hollywood’s hottest “black-tresses” that we have all grown to love – Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish.
Just by looking at the trailer, one can speculate what the movie will be about. If you’re not into deductive reasoning, then I’ll give you the basic premise of the movie:
Four longtime friends link up to go on a GIRLS TRIP! They have different personalities and viewpoints so you can imagine how interesting this may be. This year, they are headed to New Orleans for the annual, ever-so-popular, Essence Fest. They get wild, get loose, get drunk and party!
A girls trip is not complete without a few doses of testosterone, right? We’ll see “black-tors,” Larenz Tate (Love Jones, Inkwell, Dead Presidents, etc.) and Kofi Siriboe (Queen Sugar) in the film as well. My heart just melted.
Sounds familiar? Does this all sound like you and your girlfriends?
Check out the trailer:
Find out when the movie hits theaters this Summer on July 21! Hey, why not make it a GIRLS TRIP?!
What do you think of the trailer? Plenty of laughs, right?
