I really cannot believe we have reached the Christmas season. Unbelievable.

Christmas is my favorite holiday and not because of the presents, it’s because I get to spend so much time with my family – oh, the cheerfulness that can fill a room!

One of the things that keep me in the Christmas spirit, is some soul-moving, Christmas melodies.

Check out my holiday playlist – and I even included some YouTube links so you can see and hear some of the epic performances:

1. Mariah Carey – Merry Christmas

Okay, who is not a Mariah Carey fan? Released in November 1994, this project is one of the best Christmas albums to date! My favorites are “Silent Night” and “Joy to the World.” As soon as Thanksgiving is over, this is one of the albums I have ready to play from my Christmas playlist.

In 2015, Carey released a picture book called, All I Want for Christmas, based off one of the songs on this album. This will make a great stocking stuffer!

2. The Preacher’s Wife Soundtrack

Resting in heaven is the beautiful and multi-talented Whitney Houston. Also known as “The Voice,” this global superstar serenaded us with her smooth, rich vocals. The soundtrack and movie was released in 1994 and still reigns as one of my favorite movies and soundtracks of all times. My favorite songs from this album are – all of them! The songs are joyous and filled with the Christmas love and spirit. RIP Whitney.

3. The Braxtons – Braxton Family Christmas

We all know Grammy-winning superstar, Toni Braxton, right? Did you know she had four sisters who can all sing, too?

After Toni went solo, her sisters formed their own group years after known as The Braxtons.

Now that the sisters are older, they joined together to create a Christmas album and it is so good!

They all have distinctive voices and when they come together, it creates a beautiful harmony. Their only brother, Michael, is on the album as well.

My favorites are “Mary, Did You Know,”Every Day is Christmas” and “Last Christmas.”

4. The Temptations – Silent Night

One of the most effective online ordering viagra healing powers of Horny goat weed is its anti-inflammatory effects. Where are my old-schoolers? Is “Silent Night,” sung by The Temptations, your favorite version? Okay, it’s mine!

I love their version.

A funny thing about me –  If I don’t hear this song during the holidays, my Christmas spirit becomes faint. Is that crazy or what? Ha! This song reminds me of being at my aunt’s house (RIP) for Christmas, playing the classic game of Monopoly and playing with my cousins. So many great memories associated with this song. I love it.

5. Luther Vandross – This Is Christmas

Another angel who is in heaven, Luther Vandross, in my opinion, is the best male vocalist – ever! As with Whitney, there was something peculiar about those vocal pipes.

My cousins are going to flip when they read this post (they are obsessed with Luther).

I love this Christmas album because I can sit by the fireplace, drink some hot cocoa, catch up on my reading and indulge in some Luther. My favorite song? “Every Year, Every Christmas.”

I have other Christmas albums and songs that I love, the ones I mentioned above are the ones in heavy rotation on my mobile device every year.

Soul singer, Fantasia Barrino, has a new Christmas album out and I haven’t heard it, but I’ll be sure to take a listen and add it to my playlist.

Okay, your turn! What are some of your favorite Christmas songs and/or albums?

Smooches!
