CHA-CHING! 3 Easy Ways to Spring into Some Extra Cash!

CHA-CHING! 3 Easy Ways to Spring into Some Extra Cash!

Time for some spring cleaning. Make the most out of it and make some extra bucks in the process!

NOTE: This post includes affiliate and referral links, which helps to fuel my coffee habit and to keep Blog Xpressions running like a well-oiled machine!

Now that the Spring season is officially here, it’s time to do what we all dread doing – spring cleaning.

Truth be told, I keep a clean house anyway, but there are some things that I deem as untouchable during those non-Spring months.

According to a 2019 survey by Cleaning Institute, 77% of households spring clean every year!

Do you fall in that statistic?

One of the most dreaded areas to spring clean for me (and for some of you too) is…drum roll please…the closet!

Ugh! I have everything, I mean everything stored away in the closet.

I know a lot of us like to pile stuff in the garage as well. So we can agree that we hate cleaning out those spaces?

Ladies, we try our best to carve out closet space for our poor little hubby’s, but we still somehow manage to take over 80% of the closet…and 40% of that 80% are unused items!

I’m all about making some extra coins and the tips below will definitely help you make some cash to beef up that savings account! Cha-ching!

Here are some things you may have stuffed in that closet and garage that’s not in use:

  • Clothes that you don’t wear anymore (some with the tags still attached)
  • Old DVD’s and CD’s (I still have my Lil’ Kim Hardcore album. Don’t judge me.)
  • Furniture
  • Sports Equipment (my son has like 50 basketballs!)
  • Toys
  • Shoes
  • Old Electronic Devices

Instead of it just letting all this stuff sit and pile up for years and years (imagine the dust – hello, allergies!) why not turn it into some fast cash?!

Now that I have your attention (money always gets a rise out of people) let’s talk four ways on how to spring into some cash for the Spring season:

1. Sell it on ThredUP!

But when you order your prescriptions online, you don’t need to leave work early to stop at levitra cost the pharmacy, and won’t end up wishing you had remembered to go to the drugstore when you realize you need a lift at bedtime. Sildenafil citrate http://appalachianmagazine.com/2019/09/24/the-too-accessible-pastor-the-danger-of-21st-century-ministry/ viagra sale drugs always work when a male body is sexually encouraged.
I tend to come across a lot of stuff when I’m doing research for my blog posts.

One of the companies that stood out to me is the world’s largest consignment store for women and kids, ThredUP! Guess whose the founder of this woman-driven company? A MAN (gasp!)

Go figure!

Here are some accepted items you can sell:

  • Women’s clothing
  • Shoes
  • Handbags
  • Maternity clothes
  • Plus-sized clothes
  • Junior-sized clothes
  • Girls’ clothes
  • Boys’ clothes

Let’s use our God-given sense for a quick sec – your garments must be in GREAT condition.

When they buy from you, they SELL the items. So, if you are on the consumer end of this deal, would you buy a garment that actually looked second-hand?

Nah, I seriously doubt it.

You can sell your like-new clothes to them and allow it to become a treasure to someone else. Fair deal.

One of their motto’s is, “Secondhand Clothes. Firsthand Fun.” Pretty straight-forward and savvy, right?

Believe it or not, a lot of your favorite celebrities rock second-hand clothes – you will never know the difference.

And if you really think about it, some clothes in your closet still have the tags on them, so when people buy them, they will really be new garments because it’s never been worn.

I’m really wowed with the process. Check out this quick video to see the selling process in action:

Quick steps to sell your unwanted items and turn into some CASH on ThredUP:

  • Order a Clean Out Kit.
  • Fill the bag with items that you are want to sell and then ship.
  • GET PAID. If your items sell, you can store the credit on thredUP (to buy something later), donate to a cause or simply have them transfer to your PayPal account.

I have used their services to sell my son’s clothes that he has either worn once or not at all. I was able to create more space for new clothes that he actually wears.

2. Sell it on Decluttr!

Another great online marketplace to sell unwanted items.

Here’s what they will buy from you:

  • Games
  • DVD’s
  • Blu Ray’s
  • CD’s
  • Electronic devices (cell phones, tablet’s, etc.)
  • Gaming devices/equipment

I know you have some of these items laying around and not being used. Since we are in the tech era, some of the devices you stuffed in your closet and tucked away just as soon as that new version of the latest Galaxy or iPhone was released.

C’mon you know what I’m talking about.

When the Samsung Note 9 came out, I kicked my Galaxy S7 Edge to the curb! Now, I realize I can sell it and make some fast cash!
Decluttr’s process goes a little something like this:

  • Go to their website and enter the items’ barcode OR scan the code using their app, then get an instant price for your stuff!
  • Pack your items into a box.
  • Ship to them for FREE!
  • CASH, CASH, CASH!

3. Sell In Your Yard!

Maybe you are just not into all the digital age of selling online and then packing and shipping.

You can always stick to a traditional route just by selling all that old stuff in your own yard.

I remember growing up, all it took was for my aunt to find out about a yard sell and she will be the first one there to sift thru all the good stuff!

Here are a few benefits:

  • You can negotiate with the buyer
  • Get your money on the spot – CASH!
  • Get rid of the items faster
  • No packing & shipping!

Since you are going to be selling from the yard, you have to promote it! Right?

My aunt knew all about those yard sales because she saw signs posted up everywhere throughout the neighborhood.

I am big on promoting. I mean, how do you think you’re reading this post?  You were lead from one of my posts, right? And, I am in TV sales, so I know a thing or two about selling and promoting (inserts eye wink)

So, in this case, you are going to need some yard signs with stakes, and you’ll need some markers and flyers.

I am the parent to a very active 11-year-old son, so I put him to work.

If I had a yard sale, I will definitely have him going around the neighborhood installing the yard signs onto the street corners. He’ll make out the flyers and post them, too.

You want your yard to look inviting and organized to make people want to come by and shop!

I strongly advise purchasing signs from Dollar Tree to get some simple, cheap items, like yard signs, clothes hangers, and bins, to setup your yard like a open-house invitation. Their website is user-friendly.

Just to add a little dose of technology to the promoting mix, another suggestion is to email good friends and tell them all about it so they can help you get the word out!

Junk, be gone!

Ching! Ching!

Now that I have armed you will these three ways to get some extra cash, I hope you start your strategies to spring cleaning!

I hope this motivated you to go into those scary closets, spooky basements, messy garages and creepy attics and get’ta selling!

Smooches!
