As I approached being in my current position in the corporate world for five years, I started to reassess my career and I asked myself these pressing questions:
“…are you happy, Veronica?”
“…without dollar figures attached, what do you see yourself doing long term?”
“…in your next career move, will you retire from that company…that position?”
Oddly enough, I could not answer these questions without getting a little frustrated. I didn’t have a solid answer. How do you become successful from combining the two?
As a 35-year-old, jumping from career to career is not cute and definitely not the right move. I want to continue being a shining example in my son’s life. Being unstable in a career, is not something I want him to witness.
Instead of dealing with our career uncertainty, we tend to “give it to God!” “I’m going to let go and let God.”
Yes, you should give it to God, however, it should be combined with your effort.
The problem is, we just don’t know how to execute our faith in an effort to be successful in the secular world.
On my way to work one morning, I was listening to the Redefining Wealth podcast by Patrice Washington and she held an interview with best-selling author, spiritual success coach, and producer, DeVon Franklin.
The interview centered around DeVon’s new book called The Hollywood Commandments.Achieve an amazing life and thriving career that glorifies God with @DeVonFranklin's #TheHollywood Commandments:Click To Tweet
The title alone sucked me in and I was so ready to hear what he had to say. Hollywood + Commandments? What does this mean exactly?
This 40-minute interview had my 35-year-old self re-thinking the way I approached my stale career. Needless to say, the words of DeVon rocked my soul!
During his podcast interview, DeVon mentioned how we want to prosper in our careers, but yet we don’t want to submit to the process. That’s a message, y’all, take note!
